TCN MD calls for unified messaging to build public trust

The Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, has commended the Power Sector Communications Team for sustaining their commitment to collaboration across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI). He emphasized that coordinated and streamlined communication is not only vital for aligning sector-wide messaging but also critical to fostering public trust and confidence in the industry.

Engr. Abdulaziz noted that as Heads of Corporate Communications of government-owned companies across the power sector value chain, members of the PSCT bear a unique responsibility which they must diligently pursue to foster a more holistic understanding of efforts of the federal Government in improving the nation’s power sector. He stated that although numerous positive developments are ongoing, such as project completions, strengthened infrastructure, and implemented reforms, these achievements may go unnoticed if not effectively communicated to the public.

He emphasized that the most effective way for the team to achieve its communication objectives was for every member to have a clear understanding of both the activities and progress of the company they represent, as well as those of the companies represented by other team members. He noted that such mutual understanding is essential for the PSCT to speak with one voice, deliver consistent messages, and present the sector’s narrative in a manner that builds public confidence.

Engr Sule made the appeals when the Power Sector Communications Team (PSCT) comprising Heads of Corporate Communications from government-owned organizations across the Nigerian power sector value chain, convened its bi-monthly meeting 11th August 2025, at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) headquarters in Abuja. 

Speaking on behalf of the PSCT, the Chairman of the Team and Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Power on Media, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, expressed appreciation to TCN for hosting the meeting and thanked the MD/CEO for his support of the team, while pledging the PSCT’s determination to strengthen communication within the power sector.

Participants equally reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration, affirming that effective communication is essential for accurate public information, improved service delivery, and enhanced perception of the sector.

The PSCT comprises Heads of Corporate Communications and Public Relations from government-owned organizations across the Nigerian power sector value chain. It serves as a platform for harmonizing messages, sharing sector updates, and coordinating media engagements to promote transparency and keep the public adequately informed about developments within the industry. The gathering brought together reaffirming their shared commitment to fostering collaboration and delivering consistent, transparent messaging to the public.
